The Grammy Award-winning musician praised Gemini Exchange’s cryptocurrency education platform and encouraged fans to learn about investing.
Mariah Carey is the latest celebrity to embrace Bitcoin (BTC) via the Winklevoss brothers’ Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, indicating that digital assets are becoming more mainstream.
In a video message to her 10.2 million Instagram followers, Carey announced Tuesday that she is partnering with Gemini to boost Bitcoin adoption and support girls of color in their pursuit of STEM degrees — a broad education category that refers to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Carey confirmed in the video that she invests in Bitcoin through Gemini. She also gave her followers a referral code for $20 in free BTC.
“Did you know that you don’t have to buy an entire Bitcoin to invest?” “In fact, you can buy it for as little as $5,” she explained.
Carey attributed her knowledge of cryptocurrency investing to Cryptopedia, Gemini’s free education platform.
Users who sign up using the referral link and start trading on Gemini will be directly contributing to Black Girls Code, a non-profit organisation that provides technology education to African-American girls.

A Morning Consult survey of 2,200 US adults conducted in September found that 45 percent of crypto holders would seek exposure to a cryptocurrency if it was endorsed by someone famous.
