Following the publication of the 2021 list of billionaires by the American business journal Forbes, this news focused on the world’s richest blockchain billionaires. Now, it was noted in our article that Satoshi Nakamoto did not make the cut, despite the fact that Bitcoin’s creator is one of the world’s wealthiest citizens. Using today’s bitcoin exchange rates, evidence reveals that if Nakamoto has 1 million bitcoin, the controversial founder has risen to the top twenty of the world’s wealthiest billionaires.
Bitcoin’s Creator Is a Member of the 1%
The identity of the enigmatic founder behind the Bitcoin project is unclear, and there is very little information available about the blockchain inventor or group of inventors.
However, the community is aware of certain facts, and it is well recognised that Satoshi Nakamoto helped kickstart the network and was active in the community until 2010. It is known that Nakamoto owns at least 750,000 to 1.1 million bitcoin (BTC) from the early days when the founder mined tokens.
It is often believed that Nakamoto never expended the coinbase incentives he received during the first year of Bitcoin’s existence. Using current bitcoin (BTC) exchange rates, we can see that Satoshi Nakamoto is a very wealthy individual today, with over $59 billion in wealth.
Of course, this assumes Satoshi Nakamoto has access to the 1 million BTC number, and the $59 billion+ figure does not include the forks he controls. Nakamoto’s bitcoin cash (BCH) stash is worth more than $650 million, and the inventor’s bitcoinsv (BSV) stash is worth more than $250 million. If Satoshi Nakamoto still has the secret keys, he has access to 1.1 million bitcoin gold (BTG) and all other forks that exist.
Satoshi Nakamoto now ranks in the top 20 billionaires in the world, according to the Forbes Billionaires 2021 ranking. Nakamoto is ranked only above financial technology tycoon Michael Bloomberg (20) and Rob Walton (20), the oldest living son of Walmart founder Sam Walton.
Nakamoto Climbed From the World’s 159th Richest Person to the 19th in Just 5 Months
Using today’s BTC exchange rates and the equivalent exchange rates of forks like BCH, BSV, and BTG, Bitcoin’s founder will be in 19th place, just a hair below Jim Walton, another son of Sam Walton.
Now, our newsdesk has covered the fact that Satoshi Nakamoto is gradually approaching Jeff Bezos’ number one spot, as well as what the price of BTC needs to be to get there. With properties worth up to $60 billion, Nakamoto is not yet a billionaire, and BTC also has a long way to go before the inventor can compete with Bezos and Musk.
It’s not out of the question that Satoshi Nakamoto would surpass Bezos, since Bitcoin’s creator was the 157th wealthiest individual in the world in October 2020. Being one among the top 20 richest billionaires is no easy feat, but the elusive and anonymous founder of Bitcoin has done just that.
