Crypto wallets are where crypto domains are held.
Significant privacy-conscious browser Unstoppable Domains, a blockchain domain name service, has added support for decentralised domains to Brave, the first browser to do so.
Brave revealed on Thursday that its browser now has native support for the crypto domain name business, enabling users to access.crypto domains from desktop and Android apps.
Unstoppable Domains’ latest function grants access to 30,000 decentralised websites and over 700,000 blockchain domain names. The incorporation enables the Brave browser to embrace a decentralised network that does not rely on the standard Domain Name Infrastructure, which is often synonymous with privacy concerns and other threats such as hijacking, denial-of-service attacks, and phishing attacks.
According to a Brave official, the latest browser integration resolves Unstoppable Domains by default using Cloudflare’s DNS over HTTPS process. According to Brave co-founder and CTO Brian Bondy, the integration can also be programmed to settle over the Ethereum network in the Brave environments. “There is an additional setting named Ethereum that can only be set from the settings displayed below. When this is activated, the resolution will take place directly on the Ethereum blockchain, and the page will result in an IPFS CID,” he explained.
Unlike conventional domains, which are stored on behalf of the customer by custodians such as GoDaddy or Google Domains,. Crypto domains are held in digital wallets. When a user purchases a blockchain domain, it is minted as a nonfungible token on the Ethereum blockchain, giving the user complete possession and power. Such domains may even refer to material on the InterPlanetary File System or cryptocurrency addresses, making it easier to submit and receive cryptocurrency on wallets and exchanges including Coinbase.
“Unstoppable Domains was a natural fit for us, giving our users access to the decentralized web with the ability to visit any .crypto domain name. From registering .crypto domains to hosting an NFT art gallery, to sending and receiving crypto, the possibilities are limitless for Brave users,” Brave co-founder and CTO Brian Bondy said.
“We see Web3 as the future of the internet, where everyone has ownership and control of their own content. Brave’s integration with Unstoppable Domains means easy access to the decentralized internet without the hassle of browser extensions or custom DNS settings,” Unstoppable Domains co-founder and CEO Matthew Gould noted.
As previously stated. Since February of this year, crypto domains have been available on major mainstream browsers through Cloudflare’s integration. Opera, a crypto-friendly web explorer, extended its in April. Integration of crypto support into browsers on all platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux.
